Artisan Market

Where young entrepreneurs discover their SHINE and bring their ideas to life!

A Marketplace for Young Entrepreneurs

The Artisan Market is a platform for students ages 8–18 who are curious about entrepreneurship or already running a small business. From jewelry and pottery to dog treats, photography, notecards, and other creative ventures, students bring their ideas to life and share them with the community.

There is no upfront cost to participate, and students apply to be part of the market. Each student is encouraged to create something meaningful, develop their brand, and experience the excitement of selling their own products.

Expanding beyond just a market, this is a program designed to aid students in discovering how their talents and interests can make a difference.

More Than a Market: What Students Learn

Through the Artisan Market experience, students gain more than a booth and a product. They learn how their ideas, talents, and passions can become something meaningful for both themselves and their community.

Discover Your SHINE

Students explore their Strengths, Hobbies, Interests & Irritants, Needs, and Experiences through guided reflection. This process helps them understand what makes them unique and how their personal interests can inspire meaningful business ideas.

Real-World Entrepreneurial Skills

Students gain practical business experience by learning about inventory, pricing, marketing, and merchandising from local entrepreneurs. They also practice pitching their ideas and communicating confidently with customers.

Purpose-Driven Entrepreneurship

Students identify a Point of Intersection (POI) where their talents, interests, and a community need meet. Each student selects a charity and donates at least 10% of their sales, learning that entrepreneurship can be both profitable and purposeful.

A Unique Market

The Market Process

The Artisan Market is typically hosted twice each year, during Grapevine’s Main Street Fest in May and again during the holiday season in November, giving young entrepreneurs the opportunity to share their work with the broader community.

Before stepping into the marketplace, students are set up for success through our Student Entrepreneur 101 Series. This short, four-class learning experience takes place in the weeks leading up to the market and helps students build both the confidence and practical skills needed to launch their businesses.

Through these sessions, students learn about topics like branding, pricing, marketing, pitching, and inventory planning, while also exploring the SHINE framework and their Point of Intersection (POI), where their talents, interests, and a need in the community come together.

At the market, students showcase and sell their handcrafted products, everything from jewelry and artwork to baked goods, photography, and other creative ventures. Each student also selects a charity and donates at least 10% of their sales, turning their creativity into an opportunity to give back.
